GEMS: Affordable geriatric health monitoring solution
Description
Project focused on developing a remote monitoring solution for geriatric patients based on IoT technologies, sensors and data analytics. It enables continuous tracking of vital signs outside the hospital, supporting early detection of clinical risks. Its approach addresses population ageing and the need for more sustainable care models, improving continuity of care and reducing avoidable hospitalisations in chronic patients.
Goal
To develop and validate a continuous monitoring system that anticipates clinical events in elderly patients through real-time data analysis. The project aims to improve patient quality of life, optimise home-based clinical follow-up and reduce pressure on healthcare systems by enabling early interventions and more efficient management of care resources.
Key Results
- Development of a low-cost digital ecosystem for remote monitoring of chronic patients.
- Implementation of non-invasive biometric sensors for early risk detection in elderly populations.
- Integrated technological solutions to improve quality of life and autonomy at home.
