Madrid, Barcelona, February 13, 2024.- The Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona and Better Care, a biotechnology company that develops software solutions based on artificial intelligence for continuous patient monitoring, have signed a collaboration agreement to contribute to one of the major challenges of the global healthcare system: the efficient management of the large amount of information generated by patients.
The heterogeneity of the systems deployed in a hospital further complicates this challenge, as does the uniform and transversal integration of information. For this reason, the Health Management Foundation of the Hospital de Sant Pau trusts Better Care and its BC Link® system to manage this challenge.
This software integrates biomedical signals from equipment in different hospital areas, processes and visualizes them on a platform, allowing continuous monitoring of patients in real time.
Thus, the Hospital de Sant Pau has an interoperable solution between the various medical technologies and enables continuous patient care thanks to the constant flow of data throughout their itinerary. In addition, the efficient management of these data will also make it possible to optimize hospital resources, as well as offer better care to patients.
Nacho Nieto, director of Information Systems at the Hospital de Sant Pau, says that
”this collaborative project can be a turning point for the management and analysis of medical data in the Hospital and a reference for other hospitals. It is more than known that data is the present and the future, the possibility of being able to view all the necessary data, from all devices, on a single screen and in real time, represents a qualitative advance for hospital clinical management”.
The project has started by connecting a total of 114 critical beds and operating rooms (adult and pediatric ICU, Semicritical care, Surgical Area, Resuscitation and URPA).
This project is possible thanks to BC Link®, an agnostic, centralized and interoperable connectivity platform that allows the management of patient biomedical data. Xavier García Ordoñez, CEO of Better Care, explains that
”this solution collects high-quality data that is crucial for generating highly reliable predictive models, allowing healthcare professionals to make more informed and accurate clinical decisions”.
BC Link® has several applications: BC Mview®, which centralizes all information on a single screen and offers a direct and accessible view of the patient and their data so that healthcare professionals can monitor in real time and from any device. The second application is BC Workstation®, which provides a retrospective view of the data, allowing us to evaluate treatments and effects on the patient or to investigate new trends and patterns
In addition, BC Link® has two other applications: BC Tracker®, which allows 360º monitoring of the patient's biomedical records; and BC Home, for monitoring patients from their homes. Thanks to these apps, Better Care guarantees continuity of care.
In short, through this comprehensive and transversal solution, it will be possible to complete the data cycle from connectivity and integration to analysis and visualization. Thanks to this, healthcare professionals will have a powerful tool to improve clinical decision-making.
