Better Care receives CE marking for BC Workstation®, a web application for the retrospective and centralized visualization of all patient vital information

Better Care, a biotech company that develops innovative AI-based software solutions for patient care, monitoring, and supervision through continuous tracking, has obtained the CE mark for BC Workstation, part of the company's own BC Link connectivity platform. The CE mark certifies that Better Care meets the safety and health requirements for Class IIB medical software as described by the European regulatory framework in Directive 98/79/EC for this type of product. BC Workstation is a web application designed for use in critical care areas such as ICUs, PACUs, cardiac ICUs, or emergency departments, offering a centralized, retrospective view of all information monitored by medical devices connected to a patient. As Dr. Josep Maria Nicolás, an intensivist at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, explains: "System connectivity and compatibility help optimize workflows, remote patient monitoring, and clinical staff productivity, with a subsequent positive effect on sustainable hospital management." Depending on the specific needs of each hospital or critical care unit, BC Workstation is available in three different options: BC Cardiac Workstation, a remote cardiology and hemodynamics workstation; BC Vent Workstation, for mechanical ventilation; and BC Advanced Workstation, a version that combines both of the previous options. Retrospective analysis of all vital patient information in a single application Like all of Better Care's software applications, which are incremental innovations based on its global BC Link connectivity system, BC Workstation allows for high-resolution review of all clinical information monitored across the different devices and manufacturers present in a hospital. As Dr. Nicolás explains, "A monitored patient generates millions of isolated data points coming from medical devices with different formats and communication protocols that must be interpreted effectively." In this sense, BC Workstation expands access to relevant patient information with detailed views from cardiology, hemodynamic, and mechanical ventilation perspectives from admission to discharge. Furthermore, the dataset accessed by BC Workstation, stored according to the CDA (Clinical Document Architecture) standard, can be exported and utilized in different hospital areas such as EMR, HIS, PACS, etc. Complete hospital data interoperability BC Link provides hospital interoperability through BC MView, an application that captures clinical information from medical devices and is also capable of communicating and exchanging data with the various information systems operating within a hospital. This interoperability translates into complete integration with departmental systems, cardiac image storage systems, and data warehouses; integration with the patient's electronic health record; as well as integration with the rest of the hospital's areas, such as IoT systems and alarm distribution and management. All this technology enables the continuity of patient care thanks to a constant flow of data throughout their entire care journey, from emergency transport and hospital stay to discharge and post-hospital follow-up. Remote information BC Workstation allows for the consultation of detailed patient vital information through a web application suitable for computers, smartphones, and any web browser via a comprehensive and intuitive interface. Likewise, the application's various tabs allow for easy and progressive navigation, event tracking, trend evolution, and retrospective cardiological analysis.
