From now on, healthcare managers and clinical teams will now be able to use BC Link as a support tool for their healthcare use in CanadaMadrid, Barcelona September 20, 2022.- Better Care, a biotechnology company that develops software solutions based on artificial intelligence for continuous patient monitoring, has obtained the license in accordance with the Medical Products Regulations of Health Canada, the Canadian health authority, for BC Link, its data integration suite compatible with all manufacturers and devices that are connected to a patient in a hospital. BC Link is a technological solution capable of centralizing all the data of different medical devices connected to a patient on a single platform, processing, interpreting and storing them for monitoring the patient's condition, decision-making by the healthcare team, formulating medical hypotheses and even predicting possible critical events.
As a single data integration platform, it offers full compatibility with all devices and manufacturers, a feature that is especially useful in hospitals where different devices and manufacturers coexist depending on the unit. Hospital interoperability and remote patient controlIn this regard, BC Link provides hospital interoperability through BC Mview, an application that captures clinical information from medical devices and is also capable of communicating and exchanging data with the different information systems that operate in a hospital.
BC Mview allows complete integration with departmental systems, cardiological image storage systems and Data Warehouse, integration of the patient's electronic medical record, as well as with other areas of the hospital such as IoT systems, alarm distribution and management. All this technology enables continuous patient care thanks to the constant flow of data throughout their care itinerary, from emergency transportation, hospital stay, discharge and post-hospital follow-up. As part of the BC Link connectivity platform, there is BC Workstation, a web application designed for use in critical care areas such as ICU, URPA, cardiology ICU or emergency units and which offers a retrospective and centralized view of the data of the entire patient's stay: waves, trends, advanced indicators, alarms, status summaries and reports. This incremental innovation expands access to relevant patient information, allowing healthcare personnel to review in detail the complete evolution of a patient from the point of view of cardiology, hemodynamics and ventilatory mechanics. In addition, like all Better Care software applications, it allows the review, in high resolution, of all the clinical information monitored on the different devices and manufacturers that live in a hospital.
BC Workstation allows you to consult the patient's detailed vital information through a web application suitable for computers, smartphones and any web browser through a complete and intuitive interface.
For the same purpose, the different tabs of the application allow easy and progressive navigation, event monitoring, trend evolution and retrospective cardiological analysis remotely. Canada will now be able to extend the use of BC Link to the healthcare field.Until now, the BC Link application was limited to one of its uses, as a tool to support clinical research in Canada. From now on, with CADTH certification, health managers and clinical teams will now be able to use BC Link as a support tool for their healthcare use. Specifically, Dr. Carles Subirà, a specialist in intensive care medicine at Althaia University Care Network in Manresa (Barcelona), a hospital where he has been using BC Link for more than 10 years, recognizes the great advance that this new certification represents for Canadian clinical teams. Dr. Subirà, who is currently developing a research project in the Saint Michael Hospital in Toronto (Canada) focused on the detection of asynchrony in patients with mechanical ventilation during sleep and their impact on brain activity, explains that
“BC Link allows you to centralize all the signals collected by equipment connected to a patient to process and interpret them, configuring them, as well as an essential tool for analysis, research and continuous care. Thanks to this certification, BC Link can now be used in Canada not only for research but also in the healthcare field.”
