Better Care obtains CE marking for BC Workstation, a web application for the retrospective and centralised view of all vital patient data

Better Care, a biotechnology company that develops innovative software solutions based on artificial intelligence for patient care, monitoring and supervision with continuous monitoring, has obtained the CE mark of conformity for BC Workstation, part of the company's own BC Link connectivity platform. The CE mark accredits that Better Care meets the safety and health requirements for class IIB healthcare software that describes the European regulatory framework in Directive 98/79/CE for this type of product. BC Workstation is a web application designed for use in critical care areas such as ICU, URPA, cardiology ICU or emergency units and that offers a retrospective and centralized view of all the information monitored on medical devices connected to a patient. As detailed by Dr. Josep Maria Nicolás, intensive care physician at the Hospital Clínic in Barcelona. “system connectivity and compatibility helps to optimize workflows; remote patient monitoring and clinical staff productivity with the consequent positive effect on sustainable hospital management.” Depending on the specific needs of each hospital or critical unit, BC Workstation is available in three different options: BC Cardiac Workstation, a remote cardiology and hemodynamics workstation; BC Vent Workstation, for mechanical ventilation and BC Advanced Workstation, a version that combines the two previous options.Retrospective analysis of all vital patient information in a single applicationLike all Better Care software applications, which are incremental innovations based on its BC Link global connectivity system, BC Workstation allows the review, in high resolution, of all the clinical information monitored on the different devices and manufacturers that live in a hospital. As Dr. Nicolás explains, “a monitored patient generates millions of isolated data that come from medical devices with different formats and communication protocols and that must be interpreted effectively”. In this regard, BC Workstation expands access to relevant patient information in detail from the point of view of cardiology, hemodynamics and ventilatory mechanics from admission to discharge. In addition, the data set accessed by BC Workstation, stored as defined by the CDA (Clinical Document Architecture) standard, can be exported and used in different hospital areas such as EMR, HIS, PACS, etc. Complete hospital data interoperability, ABC Link provides hospital interoperability through BC MView , an application that captures clinical information from medical devices and is also capable of communicating and exchanging data with the different information systems that operate in a hospital. This interoperability translates into complete integration with departmental systems, cardiological image storage systems and Data Warehouse; integration of the patient's electronic medical record, as well as integration with other areas of the hospital such as IoT systems, alarm distribution and management. All this technology enables continuous patient care thanks to the constant flow of data throughout their care itinerary, from emergency transportation, hospital stay, discharge and post-hospital follow-up. Information in RemotoBC Workstation allows you to consult the patient's detailed vital information through a web application suitable for computers, smartphones and any web browser through a complete and intuitive interface. For the same purpose, the different tabs of the application allow easy and progressive navigation, event monitoring, trend evolution and retrospective cardiological analysis.
