WS-Vent: Workstation design to support decision-making in critically ill patients with invasive mechanical ventilation
Description
Project focused on the development of a clinical workstation for critically ill patients undergoing invasive mechanical ventilation in the ICU. It integrates clinical data, ventilatory parameters and physiological signals into an interoperable platform that improves continuous patient monitoring. Its approach facilitates the identification of clinical patterns, optimizes patient-ventilator interaction and contributes to a more efficient management of healthcare resources in highly complex intensive care environments.
Goal
Develop and validate an advanced workstation that integrates large volumes of clinical data to improve real-time decision-making in the ICU. The project seeks to optimize clinical workflows, reduce complications associated with mechanical ventilation and improve the quality of care through more accurate and continuous monitoring of the critical patient, facilitating early interventions based on reliable data.
Key Results
- Creation and evaluation of a multiplatform web tool that conveniently combines multiple physiological indicators and alarms in different views to quickly and/or more exhaustively know the current state of the critically ill patient in the ICU with invasive VM.
- Indications on the quality of patient-ventilator interaction to optimize safety in mechanical ventilation.
- From the point of view of user experience, the tool has received very good acceptance by healthcare professionals who have evaluated it in a regular clinical environment.
